Urban beekeeping in New Mexico's largest city.
Curious about how others set up their backyard apiaries? Want to get ideas on how to plan or supplement your garden for pollinators? Want to talk bees with experienced beekeepers? Then join us for the 2nd Annual Apiary & Pollinator Garden Tour Saturday, June 18, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The tour is FREE. Please RSVP on this event page.
CLICK HERE for the Apiary & Pollinator Garden Tour map. As a Google map, you will need a Google account (Gmail address, for instance) to access the descriptions. If you do not have a Google account, it will give you the address of the host site only. The map works well with smartphones, but also can be printed. The tour is self-guided – you may visit sites in any order you wish. Look for the black and yellow flag at each site and please sign in at every location you visit.
Slow Food ABQ will be providing honey tastings at Plants of the Southwest and honey-infused refreshments at 918 Kent Ave NW. In addition, Plants of the Southwest will be offering a 10% discount to all tour participants. Just say “I’m on the Apiary & Pollinator Garden Tour.” These host sites are highlighted on the map with a blue marker.
This is a CLOSED hive tour (hives will not be opened); however, taking precautions when visiting a bee yard is a good idea. Please wear light colored clothing and avoid heavy fragrances.
After the tour, please tell us about your experience! E-mail your feedback to ABQBEEKS@gmail.com.
If you have any questions or trouble with the map, please e-mail ABQBEEKS@gmail.com.
