Event Description

All local beekeepers and bee-lovers are invited! Yes, that includes you.

On Monday, June 21, at the City Council meeting, Albuquerque City Councilor Debbie O'Malley is issuing a proclamation in support of the honeybee and beekeeping in Albuquerque.

During Councilor O'Malley's proclamation, we'll be handing out tiny jars of our local honey to the 9 councilors on the dais as a honey tasting to raise awareness of city beekeeping. So exciting! Come and be a part of it.

Can you help with any of the following?

  • Share a half cup of your honey, if you have any left. (I have tiny jars, so let me know if you have honey and we'll connect beforehand.)
  • Come to the council meeting, hand out honey, stand up to receive the proclamation with me, and clap really hard. NOTE: We still need you even if you don't have your own honey to handout.
  • Take photos!

If you can attend, let's meet here at 4:45 in front of the doors to City Hall. The council meeting starts @ 5pm, so this will give us time to organize and meet with Councilor O'Malley's staff.

Nice, Mary. Thank you for printing those.

I've updated the map with parking locations (great idea).

From the google looks like we are meeting under the shade structure southwest of the corner of 3rd and Marquette. I guess that the best place to park is in the underground parking space (I don't get downtown very often). I picked up the flyers yesterday and I am happy with them.

Tiny jars? OK!

Great news, Randy, that both you and your family can come! I'll have some tiny jars for you also if you'd like them, just let me know. I'm thinking that if we keep the samples tiny, we don't violate any political gifting regulations. See you Monday!

I want to join you. I will have honey if you want me to bring some. I plan to bring the family also.

So glad you can come, Sarah. Just bring yourself and the honey! Would you like 9 of my tiny jars? I can drop 'em off earlier Monday at your house...

I have a meeting at 4pm, but I am gonna rearrange - this woman I am meeting with has rescheduled 3 times so I guess I can take a turn.

I will go with honey in hand!!!! What else to bring? I have bunch of häagen-dazs ice cream sticks I can sterilize and bring. (Rol is an addict!)
