BEE AWARE: This is the 2nd Tuesday of May.
Steve Baca, works for agricultural department of NM, the Albuquerque district office, will speak about Drift Watch and the impact of herbicide and pesticide application on our bees.
John Feuerherd, will present the anticipated results of our 2017/2018 hive surveys.
Marlene Brown, will demonstrate how to split your hives for both topbar and Langstroth. She will also demonstrate how to safely add bees to your hive using newspaper.
Please bring pens and paper as we will be writing letters to the mayor and the director of parks and recreation about creating more pollinator friendly habitats and practices in public and open spaces. (These letters don't need to be long)
If time allows, we will have time for questions and discussion about the mite treatments we presented on last month.
As always, bring seeds, cuttings, and transplants to share. Our bees need foraging plants.
