Special Guest Speaker is Tammy Horn who was an English professor for ten years until, as 2006 NEH Chair of Appalachian Studies, she began to study the potential impact of surface mining on honey bees. In 2007, unemployed, she began writing grants and working with coal companies to create Coal Country Beeworks. In 2013, she is now working the third book of the *bee trilogy*: Bees in America: How the Honey Bee Shaped a Nation (2005); Beeconomy (2012); and Apiforestation, The Future of Beekeeping (forthcoming). thank you Jessie. I figured out why I was, ugh..confused... I have no idea what happedned, but the email I got for this was dated 2/14/13... and the email I recieved when I joined here is dated, 3/8/13. are any of you people time travelers?
so how would one get on the list of newbies?
Gretchen, sorry to have missed you at the meeting. We had a great time. Check our events area for more information about upcoming classes. Our Abq Beeks meetings will start March 7th and we will be sending out an email in February to connect newbies with mentors.
duh.... just got my bearings... this was last month. I feel like an idiot... anyway, I hope it was a great meeting. so, now, what do I need to do to learn beekeeping here in Abq? keep reading or find a mentor?
I hope this meet is appropriate for us newbies. this will be my first time meeting with other bee people. should I officialy join NMBKA before the event, or can I join and pay my fee at this meeting?
Peggy, great to hear from you. We'll look for you on Saturday!
Lunch will NOT be potluck this year, but we will have food trucks available and there are many wonderful restaurants within walking distance of the church. Thank you so much for your RSVP.
Comment by Peggy Gorresen on January 20, 2013 at 12:51pm Will definitely be there on Sat 26th. Have to work, can't get off on Friday.
Lunch will be pot-luck, as usual, I'm presuming? Didn't notice that mentioned anywhere, and the newbies might need to know,
Thanks!
