Albuquerque Beekeepers

Urban beekeeping in New Mexico's largest city.

FIFRA, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, is the 1972 act that created the current US system of pesticide regulation.

The Scientific Advisory Panel created by FIFRA is a 7-member advisory panel composed of a variety of experts (biologists, statisticians, toxicologists, etc) who review projects and give expert independent advice to the EPA. Their meetings are open to the public and the list of planned discussions is available at their website.  (https://www.epa.gov/sap)

Currently the EPA is seeking nominations for an ad hoc member of the Panel. (https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2018/09/28/2018-21196/req...)
Nominations must be received by November 13, 2018.

Bee Culture Magazine is asking the public to join in their support for nominee Dr Jeff Pettis by contacting the EPA employee in charge of the nomination process, Dr. Marquea D. King.  Her contact info is included in both the links above and below.

Please read through his resume and consider speaking out in favor of adding a beekeeper to this expert panel:
