Tentative Schedule for 2012 ABQ Beeks

Bee season is upon us in Albuquerque! Jessie Brown and I have organized the following dates and tentative topics for the year, reserving the large 4H room at the Bernalillo County Extension Office for each meeting.

DATES & FEATURED TOPICS (tentative) FOR 2012

Meetings will be held at 6:30pm on the last Thursday of the month, with the exception of February, April, and May.

• 2/16: Equipment swap meet, Summary of Conference
• 3/26: Prepping for the season, making splits to manage for swarms
• 4/21 (Saturday): Hands-on Field Day with TBH and Langs in Los Ranchos
• 5/24: Hive Mgmt: Beginner and Advances for TBH and Lang
• 6/28: Honey harvest demo or shared honey harvest
• 7/26: Pests and Diseases or Queen Breeding
• 8/30: Prep for State Fair, Bee Products & Business
• 9/27: Queen Breeding? Alternative hive styles? State Fair?
• 10/25: Winterizing your hives
• Break for November, December, and January.

All meetings unless otherwise specified will be held at the NMSU Bernco Extension Office (map):
