There is one on eBay for $203.99 plus $96.00 shipping from Slovenia. I happened to see it on eBay and had read the comments here about this hive, so I thought I would share with everyone.
I am desperately trying to find 2 swarms that flew away from their new home(s) Sunday mid morning here in Corrales. I had installed 3 bee packages into their hives Saturday evening and believed everything was fine. There was activity around the hives on Sunday mid morning, but Monday morning when I went to check on them, only 1 hive was still here. I'm new to beekeeping and am devastated to have lost 2 hives. I am willing to pay a reward if anyone has found and rescued them.
Hi James. That $500 price tag is still less than a Warre hive, (Sweet Valley, although they recently reduced the price). I just love how they all fit together in the bee house. Neat, clean, practical. The email I got repeats what you are saying and I believe they will even ship Nucs. How awesome is that?
This hive certainly seems user friendly. I sent them an emil and as soon as I get a response I will share it with you.
I found a company that sells them here in the US but they are $500 including shipping to NM. I want to build one but the plans are not available anywhere. Our only option would be to buy one and duplicate it once we have it. I truly think that this style of hive is great for the bees.
Wow! Thanks for sharing James. Those hives seem awesome. Do you know of anyone who has one?
Has anyone heard of the AZ hive, that originates from Slovenia. Apparently it is the beekeeping capital of Europe! Their Hives are AMAZING! I want to buy some and see how they do in our region of the world. Check out the website: http://www.slovenianbeekeeping.com/index-one.html. Let me know what everyone's thoughts are. I have found very little information online about them except for one video on youtube: https://youtu.be/8MitGad0qU4
I just did a hive inspection tonight as am very pleased to see both of my hives are rocking. My queens seems to be rock stars! How is everyone hives looking this time of year? Just curious?
I did check for the red dots but found nothing. Just a puzzle!
Thank you julie for sharing and Mary for your comment. I have had a similar situation. My bees made an appearance in early February just before the last snow, after which time there was no activity. I opened the hive and found a big pile of dead bees, and many more dead bees on the combs and unhatched in the cells. I have not checked for the red dots on the floor yet? If it is Varroa, what do I need to do to clean the hive so it is safe and usable for new bees? And maybe someone can suggest a place to buy a new supply of bees? Thank you all
