I'm glad to hear that your hive has survived the winter!  Generally speaking, the bees will only expand if they need the space.  At my elevation, we do not have any nectar sources.  So, there's no building/expansion going on until there's a viable food source.

Warre beeks- need some feedback. My Warre colony survived the winter and seems to be doing well but they have never moved into the second brood box- not even an attempt to draw comb on the bars. Any ideas why?

Are they just not interested or have not grown enough to need it?

I'm planning to put on a Warre super in about a week or two.  This time I will try to get some pictures when I pull the super.

I want about 2 acres of yellow sweet clover and alfalfa.  But I should probably build be a fence to keep the elk and mule deer out.  I'm afraid they would mow down everything I planted.

The blue one is alive and well - doing very good actually. The Yellow one is closed up - may try to split the Blue one next spring and add that to my resume :)

Looks good, Sam!  It didn't take me long to spot the two Warre hives!

To chime in here- I ordered from Bethinking and received about a quarter of what i paid for. After two dozen calls and emails to them with no response, I finally went to Amazon. I used Amazon pay for my orders and filed a claim. Unbelievably Amazon was able to get me a refund from Bethinking.
