Do you use frames with your foundationless warre hives Wm. ?

There are plenty of people using foundation-less frames in the Lang. They produce lots of comb honey. Putting honey in the jar they use the crush and strain method.

Adding boxes to the bottom of the hive has the added benefit of you inspecting the whole hive and cleaning the bottom board.

Jefferson-  Are you using foundation or foundationless ?

I was wondering if anyone thought of combining the top bar and langstroth hive types to see if they could get the best of both worlds.  I guess so!  I'm more likely to try the top bar method, however if the Warre hive requires less work, it just might be worth it.  I'd only be concerned about picking up the hives to add supers at the bottom, and wonder how the wax from one super doesn't get attached to the top bars on the super below.  Does this even happen?

Happy to see this group formed. I'm new to beekeeping (so new i don't have a hive or bees except for those that use my GARDEN :)

Taking this year to learn about beekeeping and Warre Hives. I've decided to start keeping bees in Warre hives next spring (2015). So i'm very interested in meeting you all / seeing any hives you have and generally getting to know you.

I have a blossoming Urban Homestead in Downtown and am open to show you to get feedback on what we're doing in support of beekeeping .

Thanks - Sam

I have one but haven't tried using it. It will be interesting to see what folks have to say.
