Jeremy McKellar replied to Jerry Rolfe's discussion I'm puzzled and may have losa my queen.
"Be careful open feeding near the entrance it could cause robbing. I would do a borgman feeder in the door for a lang, or just put the jar on a few twigs in the back of the hive if a top bar. If you are going to open feed do it opposite side of the…"

Jeremy McKellar replied to Jerry Rolfe's discussion I'm puzzled and may have losa my queen.
"It's hot out, the spring nectar flow is about done. Until some good rains come forage is going to be sparse. Some queen stop or slow laying when we have these conditions. I would offer feed and see if someone can help check for a queen. I had a…"

Jeremy McKellar commented on Jefferson's group Topbar hive users.
"That would probably be fine. Make sure it is a frame with eggs or less then 2 day old larva. If the queen is gone they can make a new one, if she isn't it will just give them a boost in numbers."

Beware

Warm temps, hungry bees, no nectar flow = robbing.  There be pirate bees out there.I lost a box today.  When I got home from work there was a lot of activity.  Blocked the entrance and by dark the frenzy of bees trying to get in left.  Peaked in the hive, just a hand full of dead bees and some trapped robbers.  Not sure if the hive died then the robbing started or if the robbers chased off the residents. Brought in what was left of the honey and comb.  Going to sequester my other hive for a day…See More

Program? Spread sheet? Paper format?  I might just go find…See More
