Profile Information

About me:
The name of my urban homestead is "7 Heavenly Hens GARDEN". We grow a variety of fruits , vegetables and flowers and raise chickens. Honey bees are now part of the GARDEN.
I started with my first hive in August 2014 - my warrre hive was gifted to me and so was my 1st colony (from a cut-out).
My 1st hive is a Warre . My approach to beekeeping is a natural/sustainable and holistic one. I plan to add two more Warre hives during the spring of 2015.
My bee hives are primarily located here (ZIP code):

Review / recommend this book ?

Can anyone recommend/comment on the book "The Practical Beekeeper, Beekeeping Naturally" ?

I have come across the book and associated website. I'm new to beekeeping - plan to start hives in the spring of 2015, so I'm trying to locate good sources of reading material.

Thanks - Sam

I left a comment somewhere and not sure where so I am doing it again. I needed some feedback on these top bars- pine_warre_top_bars_ea5ae41a-c67f-4ca0-a3a5-e213ec47f4d2_2000x.jpg

Do I need to wax them or will they be ok without in my warre?

Thank you,

Hi Sam!

It was great meeting you and your family Sunday.  I really enjoyed talking with you and seeing your chickens and garden.  I was thinking, I don't know if I will get around to keeping bees in the Warre and if you would like it it is yours.  It does need work as it came unassembled, but I would rather see it go to someone who will use it as opposed to just sitting in my yard until I get around to it.  Let me know if you would want it.

Take Care,
